RF Youth Boxing

Program Goal

By focusing on the founders’ six boxing principals; concentration, confidence, determination, drive, focus, skill and strength, The RF Youth Boxing program inspires kids and teens to overcome challenges and develop healthy self esteem. Program participants will also gain confidence through mastering difficult skills and developing proper physical conditioning. They will also learn good sportsmanship. RF Youth Boxing program teaches its boxers not only how to be good losers, but even more importantly, how to be good winners.

Program Description

RF Youth Boxing will train 30 young athletes ranging from ages 12 to 18. Each candidate will have to pass a rigorous application process to be accepted into the program. The application includes a personal essay about why the applicant wants to join the program, the benefits they hope to derive from it, and what special attributes they believe they can bring to the program. Lastly, parental consent, and proof of need for financial assistance (if applicable) will also be required.

Once accepted, applicants will sign a Commitment Contract, which includes guidelines and requirements that must be met to remain in the program. Each candidate will be reviewed on a quarterly basis for tardiness, attendance, conduct, sportsmanship, respect for coaches and peers, and academic standing in school. Furthermore, upon entry into the program, candidates will undergo a physical assessment, which will serve as a baseline for their progress in the program. From these baseline readings, the trainers will design measurable physical goals that will be reviewed on a quarterly basis. Continuance in the program is based on their forward progress as per the established quarterly goals. Additional stretch target goals that reflect entry into USA Boxing bouts will be set for each candidate. By reaching these goals, they automatically receive additional coaching and training time.

The program will run three days a week. The youth will be trained Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 3:30pm to 5:00pm. The ratio of trainers to candidates will be 1 to 10 or better. Further support will be available from an in-house social counselor, who can address any issues that arise.
