For everyone 18 years or older and in good shape.
Free your inner warrior. This fantasy boxing experience will support you in cultivating the daily training routine of a professional boxer and the breath control and body awareness of a yogi.
Learn to:
- Use boxing as a safe and effective tool for relieving stress
- Control breathing while doing dynamic movements
- Access critical thinking skills to improve concentration
- Balance emotional and intellectual responses to life challenges.
Ahmad Mickens, a fitness professional and successful amateur boxer with a passion for yoga, will coach two workout sessions each day ranging from outdoor runs and brisk hikes at sunrise to boxing skills training in the afternoon. Practices will include sustained yoga postures, jumping rope, and calisthenic drills. Punch techniques and combinations coupled with defensive strategies will be mastered through shadow boxing, heavy bag, double end bag, speed bag, and mitt work exercises.
In an environment that promotes teamwork, motivation, and learning, Ahmad will lead beginner, intermediate, and advanced boxers in this fun approach to the sweat science of boxing.
Note Bring hand wraps, training gloves, running or workout shoes, a jump rope, loose clothing, and an open mind. Gloves, jump ropes, and hand wraps will be available for purchase from the presenter.
